TOUR BY FOOT: Foreign scripts

Languages can be written in various ways. In the Netherlands, we use the Roman alphabet, but other countries use different writing systems. On the walls of Leiden you can find poems written in several different scripts: Chinese and Japanese characters, and Cyrillic, Georgian Arabic and Greek alphabets. This route will take you along 10 wall poems written in different scripts.

How it works

Explore 10 wallpoems all written in non Latin script. The route by foot takes around 45 to 60 minutes. You can navigate using the digital route below. Look for the starting point first, and follow the route using the map. Click on the red dot to discover more about a poem. Want to move on to the next poem?
